All the Ugly Isms Conference

November 1, 2021
Moscow
Grace Agenda 2021

What did we set out to do with this conference?

Christ has tasked His church to proclaim the gospel. To proclaim forgiveness to a nation being torn apart by all manner of isms—feminism, Marxism, socialism, to name just a few.

We are called to preach Christ as the only remedy for what is afflicting us, and what is currently afflicting us is our envious stupidity.

When false gospels promise unity, it is a con. All they’re selling is the next episode of the ongoing feud. False Gospels never bring unity.

This is why we want to call the people of God to the one who alone can unite us: Christ Crucified.

John Knox: Stalwart Courage

November 1, 2021
Moscow
A prisoner on a galley once said, "Give me Scotland or I die!"

Look Inside the Book

Jesus taught that we should beware when all men speak well of us.

Few have ever spoken well of John Knox, either in his own lifetime or in the centuries since. Was he excessively harsh and fanatical as his critics have painted him? Or was he appropriately hard and firm as his time and calling required?

In John Knox: Stalwart Courage, Douglas Wilson staunchly defends this staunch Reformer, not only lauding his stalwart courage but also upholding his much-neglected gentler virtues—love, mercy, tenderness, and humility.

At Knox’s funeral, one of his friends said, “Here lies one who neither flattered nor feared any flesh.”

John Knox sought the approval of neither commoner nor queen, but only his God. John Knox was a Reformer of Church and culture worthy of honor and emulation, and his story should be one we know well.

What People Are Saying

I had no idea how impactful John Knox was on the reformation. Right up there with Martin Luther, and John Calvin. I think the thing I liked most about the book was the shorter length of each chapter, which helped me blitz read through the book, rather than having to devote an entire hour for each section, I was able to read it over 14 days 7-10 minutes at a time. Doug Wilson is clear and concise, and brings his own unique wit and charm to the book. I would absolutely recommend to you, and buy a few extra copies for other men in your life who need a little Scottish Reformation zing in their life. - Tom Suber

"Douglas Wilson has not only captured the real essence of Knox's life, his times, his leadership traits, and his continuing legacy, he has apprehended that essential tenacity rooted in humility that so marked his ministry and message." - George Grant, pastor and author in Franklin, Tennessee"

This study of the life, character, and ministry of John Knox makes a valuable contribution to an understanding of the Reform Movement, particularly during the sixteenth century in Scotland. Its accuracy is enhanced by the selected words of Knox which reflect the courage, the intellect, and the proactive faith of this spiritual giant. This book will be accepted as an important building block, not only of Presbyterian doctrine, but of the literature of theology in general." - D. James Kennedy, Ph.D., Senior Minister, Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church and Chancellor of Knox Theological Seminary in Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Against the Church

November 1, 2021
Moscow
Just because it's there every Sunday morning doesn't mean it's not an idol.

Look Inside the Book

In Against the Church , longtime pastor Douglas Wilson takes a hammer to some of our very favorite graven images, and (surprise, surprise) we've set up display cases for most of them in our churches: Liturgy, Tradition, Systematics, infant Baptism, and that crafty old Baal Doctrine.Alongside a critique of philosophical assumptions about human nature, dualism, and grace, Wilson stresses the unavoidable and absolute necessity of individual hearts being born again. He concludes by laying out the case for the church. This isn't contradictory, though—the only way to be effectually for the church is to master the case against it. After all, God Himself is the ultimate iconoclast.

No Mere Mortals

November 1, 2021
Moscow
A man should look at his wife or fiancée and gasp.

Look Inside the Book

Do you know what God has given you (or is in the process of giving you)?

That woman, that terrifying, glorious woman made in His image, was created by God and redeemed with the precious blood of Jesus, and the Holy Spirit has taken up residence in her. She is of immense value to God. She is precious to Him. She is His daughter, an heir of the promise, a co-heir of the grace of life with you.

Do you feel that? Does it make your chest knot up Do you get a little bit afraid? Maybe a lot afraid?Good. Hold that pose.

In recent decades , we have reduced marriage to a permanent roommate situation with sexual benefits. But marriage is not about something as low-stakes as “who gets to control the remote.”

Your husband or wife is no mere mortal, but an eternal soul who is going to grow closer to God or further from Him because they are married to you. Add children to the mix—even more eternal souls!

That’s why the biblical picture of the family is something far more powerful, far more dangerous, far more glorious—far more like a nuclear reactor than anything else in modern society.
